About West Japan Tools. West Japan Tools is the brainchild of Takayuki Shibata, based in Fukuyama City. Shibata-san is best known in knife circles as the founder of Masakage Knives, but his curiosity did not stop there. After years of cooking for his family, he found himself frustrated by the tools available to him, and that frustration pushed him to start developing his own kitchen products, beginning with a quest to build the perfect frying pan, which eventually expanded into a broader range of kitchen tools and accessories.
