Right of Withdrawal (EU)
EU Consumer Rights
Right of Withdrawal
For customers exercising rights under the EU Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU
Your Right to Withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days of receiving your order, without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period expires 14 days from the day on which you, or a third party nominated by you (other than a carrier), takes physical possession of the goods.
How to Exercise Your Right
To exercise the right of withdrawal, you must inform us of your decision by an unequivocal statement. You can do this by:
- Emailing us at orders@chefs-edge.com.au with your order number and a clear statement of your intention to withdraw
- Using the Model Withdrawal Form provided at the bottom of this page
The withdrawal deadline is met if you send your communication before the 14-day period has expired.
Return Shipping — Customer's Responsibility
You are responsible for arranging and paying for the cost of returning the goods to our warehouse in Australia. We do not provide prepaid return labels for withdrawal requests.
Return shipping costs will vary depending on the weight and dimensions of the package. As a guide:
- Lightweight items (single knife, accessories): estimated AUD $20–$50
- Heavier or multi-item orders: estimated AUD $50–$100 or more
These are estimates only. Actual costs will depend on your location and chosen carrier.
Please contact us at orders@chefs-edge.com.au before returning your order to receive the correct warehouse address and packaging instructions.
Risk During Return Transit
You are responsible for the goods from the moment they leave your possession until they are received and signed for at our warehouse. Chefs Edge is not responsible for any loss, theft, or damage that occurs during the return transit.
We strongly recommend:
- Using a tracked and insured shipping service
- Retaining your proof of postage and tracking details
- Packaging items securely to prevent damage in transit
If returned goods arrive damaged due to inadequate packaging, this will be taken into account when assessing your refund.
Exclusions — Items Not Covered
The right of withdrawal does not apply to the supply of goods that have been made to your specifications or are clearly personalised. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Knives ordered with a custom handle (custom wood, material, or colour selection)
- Any product engraved, monogrammed, or modified at your request
- Items bundled as a custom set at your direction
If you are unsure whether your order qualifies for withdrawal rights, please contact us before placing your order.
Used or Opened Items
You are permitted to handle returned goods only to the extent necessary to establish their nature, characteristics, and functioning — equivalent to how you would examine them in a physical store.
If the goods show signs of use beyond this (e.g. the knife has been used for food preparation, sharpened, or shows wear), we will assess the item upon arrival and determine a refund amount based on the diminished value resulting from that use. We may deduct an appropriate amount from the refund to reflect the reduced value of the goods.
Items must be returned in their original packaging where possible.
Refunds
If you exercise your right of withdrawal, we will reimburse you for the cost of the goods. We will not reimburse original outbound shipping costs unless the entire order is returned and the withdrawal is exercised within the 14-day window.
Refunds are processed within 14 days of us receiving the returned goods (or evidence of return), using the same payment method as your original purchase unless expressly agreed otherwise. No fee is charged for the reimbursement itself.
Model Withdrawal Form
You may use the form below, though it is not mandatory. Complete it and email it to orders@chefs-edge.com.au.
