Takamura Hamono

Founded in 1945 and based in Echizen, Fukui, Takamura Hamono is a family-run forge now led by third-generation blacksmith Terukazu Takamura, alongside his two younger brothers. Known for their refined craftsmanship and technical innovation, Takamura Hamono has become synonymous with elegant, high-performance blades.

Early pioneers in the use of powder metallurgy steels, they were among the first to work successfully with Super Gold (SG2) — a material prized for its extraordinary hardness and long-lasting edge retention. Their knives are precisely balanced, exceptionally finished, and exhibit a clean, modern aesthetic without compromising the soul of traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
