The Senzo line of Black Damascus VG10 knives are crafted by Japanese knife maker Suncraft, operating out of the well-known knife making city of Seki, in Gifu prefecture. The core steel of the Senzo black is the ever-popular VG10, an extremely versatile high-carbon stainless steel. VG10 is fairly easy to sharpen, low maintenance and holds a great edge for a long time. This line has a fantastic level of finish and presents beautifully in the Suncraft packaging. These knives come whetstone sharpened from factory and are paired with a waterproof, durable octagonal pakkawood handle and white spacer.
*Available to Australian customers only*
Often not quite as high in carbon content, stainless steels have added chromium which acts as a protecting element to oxidizing agents such as acidic foods and water. Generally speaking, when a steel has 12% or above in Chromium content, it is regarded as a stainless steel. The main stainless steels used by Japanese blacksmiths are VG-10 and AUS10, and Ginsan. For their versatile nature and minimal maintenance, stainless steels are very common across many knives manufactured throughout the world.
