Description

Sakai Takayuki

Manufactured in Sakai, Japan, Sakai Takayuki knives are world renowned for their quality, durability, and precision. Sakai has a rich history of knife making, with the crafting of samurai swords in this area dating back over 600 years. Today, it is estimated that approximately 90% of Japanese chef knives come from Sakai.Master craftsman Mr. Keijiro Doi oversees the operations, as does his son Itsuo Doi, Keido Sugihara, and Yukinori Oda.

They offer a large variety of knives in all shapes and forms, and using 17, 33, and 63 Layer Damascus Steel, Blue and White steels, they manufacture knives of the highest quality to suit any application. These Kurokage line of knives have been coated with a Fluorine Resin which provides anti-stick properties when preparing food (and looks great too). They are paired with a Wenge Timber and Buffalo Horn handle to make for a very visually striking piece with great practical applications.

Care Instructions

prepare

Cutting
These knives are incredibly sharp, and as such have a very thin edge. Cut on wood chopping boards only, and do not hit/cut/chop frozen vegetables, bones, or hard objects, as the blade can chip or break. Do not twist or torque the blade whilst cutting, as this may also chip the cutting edge.

dishes

Washing
Use a cloth with hot water to wipe the blade, no scourers or abrasives as this may ruin the finish. Dry your knives as soon as possible after washing and do not leave them wet for extended periods of time. Store in a cool, dry place.

No dishwasher use!

sharpen

Sharpening
We recommend you use a whetstone to sharpen this blade. Sharpening stones are available on our website, and with a small amount of practice you’ll be sharpening your own knives in no time.

Exceptional knife with a good hand feel and balance, still holding a good edge with only minimal honing even after some rigorous use. Love the fluorine coating which makes cleaning very easy. Highly recomended!

  2. Exceptional

Straight out of the box this knife instantly shone. The wrapping and box it came in is gorgeous, the box is still used as its home between usage.
The knife itself is not only gorgeous to look at, but feels like a powerhouse when you hold it. Everything it touches feels like butter, I’m extremely pleased with the knife and the service provided alongside it.
